About
Magdy Ibrahim current position as an assistant professor at Abu Dhabi University, College of Engineering and Computer Science crowns his path as an architect, researcher and educator since graduation in 1992 with degree of honor. With a clear perspective on achieving academic excellence, he pursues further scientific research and seek better academic positions.
Interested in architecture as well as computer technologies related to architecture, Dr. Ibrahim have based most of his academic research work on the prospect of advancing architecture utilizing today’s computer tools. However, his master thesis topic was an attempt to understand the relationship between new buildings and older buildings in the same built context which helped shaping his perspective of architecture as a process of complementing elements rather than a mere personal achievement.
His PhD dissertation and recent research work is focused on the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) as the new paradigm for CAD in architecture. Other papers focused on the implementation of BIM technology in practice and the dilemma it creates in education which have been cited many times in other researchers work.
Currently he is a member of ASCAAD and ACADIA and have served as a reviewer for ACADIA 2009 as well as ASCAAD 2007 and 2009 conferences, and a board member for ASCAAD organization for two consecutive terms.
He has also been invited to review papers in reputable scientific journals such as ITCon and also as a reviewer for research projects grants.
